SWACHHATA PAKHWADA – September 1 to 15, 2018

Swachhata Pakhwada was celebrated in Amrita Vidyalayam, Mysuru as per CBSE circular.

The programme was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by Vice Principal Smt. Susheel K. Bejoy. Swachhata Shapath was taken by all the students of the school on September 1st. Later, the Vice Principal spoke about the importance of the day, and advised teachers and students to participate in it wholeheartedly so as to make the Swachhata Mission a great success.

September 7th – HAND WASH DAY


An Audio Visual Programme was planned on September 8, 2018.

Teachers of the Computer Department, Smt. Hima and Ms. Keerthy downloaded videos on personal hygiene and cleanliness from “SWACHH BHARAT VIDEOS” and uploaded them in all the classrooms. Class Teachers of all classes played these videos on Tata ClassEdge. The Digital Class turned out to be a tremendous success as always. The students were highly motivated seeing the inspiring videos.


The programme planned for September 10th was postponed to September 11th due to an unexpected holiday.

The students of all 3 sections of classes 8 and 9 accompanied by their class teachers and teachers from the PT Department went on a procession to areas near our school. The procession was flagged off at the school gate by our Vice Principal. Students had over 50 banners, and they went around shouting slogans like “Swachh Bharat, Swasth Bharat”, “Clean India, Healthy India”, “Save Water, Save Earth”, and many more. The slogans echoed on the roads and people watched them with interest. The students were very enthusiastic, and so were the teachers who led them.


Programmes decided for September 12th and 13th were also held on September 11th due to holidays on account of Gouri and Ganesha festivals.

Under the guidance of our Craft Teacher Smt. Shantala, students brought Art and Craft exhibits made out of waste materials. Students of all classes lined up in the Craft Room to see the creativity of the students who had made the “Best out of Waste”. The judges selected the best of the lot, and First, Second and Third prizes were declared.


Class 10 students, Sadvi and team presented a show on how rain water can be harvested.


Prize distribution was conducted on September 15, 2018.

Finally the most awaited day had arrived. Students eagerly waited for the results of the Essay Writing, Painting, Best out of Waste, Best Slogan Writing and Letter Writing competitions to be announced. 105 students received trophies with books as prizes.

In her speech, School Counsellor Smt. Nagashree highlighted the importance of “Good Health and Hygiene”. The Vice-Principal advised students to continue the spirit of “Clean India, Green India”, “Swachh Bharat, Swasth Bharat”, “Don’t litter, Don’t allow others to litter” etc. She also thanked the teachers who put in their best effort to make the celebration a great success.
The fortnight long observation of Swachh Bharat Pakhwada has not ended here, but will continue until October 2nd and beyond.
