Teachers’ Day was celebrated on September 5, 2018 in a befitting way at Amrita Vidyalayam, Mysuru.
Vice-Principal Smt. Susheel K. Bejoy inaugurated the function. She also addressed the teachers and students later. In her motivating speech, she said that students are raw but good clay, and that teachers like skilful potters should give the clay a proper shape by discarding what is not required. To achieve this, teachers may scold, advice, sometimes even call the parents – only because they want to see their students progress. They not only value the students, but also their parents’ hard work.
Principal Bri. Virajamrita Chaitanya also asked her to read the message for teachers which was sent by TEAM CBSE in which teachers were very beautifully compared to SHERPAS. She also congratulated and thanked the teachers for their effort in moulding the students.
Students of Class 10 taught classes while teachers observed them. Later, Class 10 students put up a very good entertainment programme which included a song, games and a skit. The skit conveyed a great message, comparing students of the 20th and 21st centuries. The added flavour was that the teacher characters in the skit had the common dialogues of their own teachers which made it very hilarious. The message conveyed was that, if students obeyed their parents and teachers today, their tomorrow would be peaceful.
The teachers were divided into 4 groups for the games. Dumb Charades and Treasure Hunt were the most attractive events of the day. The students thoroughly enjoyed seeing their teachers in a sportive mood.
